Mission Statement

Starkey nurtures development and promotes independence of people with intellectual disabilities.

Vision Statement

Starkey will embrace its rich legacy, community partnerships and commitment to innovation to help persons with developmental disabilities achieve progress toward independence, experience meaningful relationships and be of value to their community.

Code of Ethics

Strategic Goals

Goal 1: Strengthen the effectiveness of Starkey’s community relations to raise awareness of the organization’s mission and vision.

Goal 2: Maintain and strengthen Starkey’s financial resources.

Goal 3: Promote an organizational culture that creates and sustains a talented and diverse workforce to enhance quality and excellence.

Goal 4: Enhance the quality of services and organizational excellence by achieving and maintaining accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Goal 5: Tailor and expand options for quality services and facilities that are responsive to changing needs.

Goal 6: Improve Starkey's governance framework to enhance board effectiveness.

Starkey, Inc., founded in 1930, is the oldest community-based nonprofit in Sedgwick County, Kansas, serving individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through its business services, employment, recycling, residential, life enrichment and case management programs, Starkey creates possibility in the lives of more than 450 people with disabilities.
